INTRO: Everyone wants to be original, an individual, so they look to expose the unknown, but how long can it be unknown? How long can the “fringe” stay on the outskirts of today’s society? American culture is always reaching out to the fringe and looking for new things to be pulled into mainstream.  People listen to underground music, dress in fashion that is not the popular trend, they get tattoos to stand out and be different. In the end, everything turns into mainstream. American culture takes the fringe and makes it mainstream to keep fashion, music, and art moving forward.
